Marisa Babb

Marisa Babb-Wetherell , Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Marisa Babb-Wetherell, PT, DPT is a graduate of the Doctor of Physical Therapy at Springfield College in Springfield, MA. She also completed her undergraduate work at Springfield College including a minor in dance. Marisa’s clinical affiliations and work experiences have provided her opportunities to work with a variety of patients and conditions. She has worked in acute inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient private practice, including a clinic specializing in dance medicine. During graduate school, Marisa traveled to Haiti to explore global health and provide PT services. She is also a recipient of the Ruth Hall Student Award.

Marisa’s professional interests include dance, Pilates, body-mind connections, developmental patterns and positions, and global health. As a dancer herself, Marisa is passionate about educating young dancers about their bodies and how to use the body as effectively, efficiently, and safely as possible. In addition to treating dancers in the clinic, Marisa travels to local dance schools holding workshops about wellness, fitness, and injury prevention to promote a long, healthy dance career. Marisa holds a Level 3 certification in Progressing Ballet Technique. She also has a special interest in working with Tactical Athletes including first responders.

Marisa is committed to lifelong learning and professional development. She serves as the Chair of Elliott Physical Therapy’s Continuing Education Committee. Marisa frequently attends courses focused on dance medicine and Pilates, and completed the Principles of Dance Medicine course offered by the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at NYU. As a physical therapist, Marisa is often integrating movement concepts that stem from her dance background and from exploration of Pilates and movement therapy approaches. Marisa is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is an active member of the Massachusetts Chapter.
