Lisa Mulligan, PT, DPT graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in December 2011. Her career started out in pediatrics as a preschool physical therapist in a Massachusetts public school, where she treated a diverse group of children in their school environment.
Lisa enjoys working with student athletes and specializes in treating young dancers with injuries, as she has trained in tap, jazz, Irish step dancing and participated in multiple musical performances. She collaborates with many local dance schools including Brady Academy of Irish Dance, Kenny Academy of Irish Dance, The Forbes School of Irish Dance to create injury prevention programs for their competitive dancers. In addition to her dance initiatives at Elliott Physical Therapy, Lisa consults with Mickey Cassella, retired physical therapist for the Boston Ballet, to bring the best clinical practice to her young competitive dancers.
Lisa also practices yoga and pilates-based principles in her treatment, having done research and laboratory studies on muscular performance during specific yoga poses. She has trained with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute, and incorporates the therapeutic movements and techniques of Pilates as well as traditional physical therapy interventions. While incorporating her knowledge of yoga and Pilates into treatment of all patients of varying ages and abilities, she has also developed specialized programs for female athletes to improve their core strength and reduce injuries at local schools. She is also trained in the Graston Technique, Myofascial release and other manual therapy techniques.
Lisa currently treats at Elliott Physical Therapy-Dorchester Monday and Wednesday evenings. She lives in Savin Hill and enjoys her beautiful baby girl, kickboxing, hiking, traveling, and adventures.
