Amanda McInnis

(PT, DPT | Dance Medicine Specialist)

Amanda is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and a minor in psychology as well as a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). While completing her degree, she was a member of one of Northeastern’s Dance Teams as well as a tutor for Physical Therapy foundations courses.

Amanda’s clinical experiences include outpatient orthopedics, outpatient sports rehab and acute inpatient rehab. She has cared for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, vestibular, cardiopulmonary, and developmental conditions. Throughout her clinical experience she has formed a particular interest in achieving pain modulation through mind-body connection such as breathing patterns, postural awareness, mental health, and lifelong fitness habits.

Along with her DPT degree, she has also been a certified dance instructor with the Dance Teacher’s club of Boston for 8 years. During her clinical experience, Amanda also worked with DPTs and MDs involved in the Boston Ballet and dance companies in the surrounding Boston area. She is currently an instructor at a dance studio in Melrose, MA where she teaches ages 5-7 as well as 13-18 in genres ranging from contemporary, ballet, jazz and tap. Amanda is passionate about educating and promoting safe and effective body mechanics both in the studio and in the clinic for all dancers and performing artists alike.

Amanda grew up in Melrose, MA and played field hockey and danced for many years. Her hobbies now include Pilates, cooking, hiking, discovering new fun restaurants, traveling, and spending time with her family.
